BİRİNCİ DÜNYA SAVAŞI YILLARINDA KARADENİZ’DE OSMANLI KAYIK TAŞIMACILIĞI

ÖZET

Ağustos 1914 başında Almanya ile ittifak anlaşması yapan ve seferberlik ilân eden Osmanlı Devleti, doğu bölgesindeki askeri birliklere lojistik destek sağlamak üzere Karadeniz suyolundan yararlanmak istemiştir. Ağustos-Kasım 1914 döneminde büyük gemilerle askerî personel, erzak ve mühim-mat sevk edilmiş, ancak Rusya’nın savaşa girmesi ve Karadeniz’de Osmanlı gemilerini batırmaya başlamasıyla bu sevkıyata ara verilmiştir. Deniz yolunun kapanması üzerine 3. Ordu birliklerine karayoluyla lojistik destek sağlanmaya çalışılmışsa da pek yeterli olmamış ve birlikler erzak ve mühimmat sıkıntısı yaşamaya başlamıştır. Bu durumda  Osmanlı Hükümeti çözümü kayıklarla sevkıyat yapmakta bulmuştur. 1915-1916 yılları arasında Kastamonu, Sinop ve Samsun’dan yüklenen kayıklar Rus savaş gemilerinin tehdidi-ne rağmen sürekli olarak erzak ve mühimmat taşımıştır. Kayıklar savaş yıllarında lojistik unsurların yanı sıra Doğu Karadeniz’deki Rus işgaliyle birlikte kaçan sivil halkın batı kıyılarına taşınmasında da kullanılmıştır.

ABSTRACT

Following the Alliance agreement with Germany in August 1914, the Ottoman Government declared mobilization. As it had been done in centuries, send soldiers and supplies to the Eastern front. The transport of soldiers and supplies had been carried  out smoothly by big ships form August to November 1914 till the Russian Empire entered the war and took control of the Black Sea through her powerful navy. As a result, the Black Sea route was interrupted and the government sent supplies to the 3rd Army in the east through land route, which were inadequate consequently causing supplies insufficient. To solve this insufficiency, the government considered to employ small boots for transport that seriously helped in sending supplies from Kastamonu, Sinop and Samsun to Trabzon although the Russian threat was immense. Not only the boats served for carrying supplies to the front it also transported the civilian people from the front to secure regions in the west.
